Tamagotchi Plaza, the latest shop simulation game from the beloved Tamagotchi series, is set to arrive on the Nintendo Switch on June 27, 2025. This intriguing game allows players to dive into the heart of Tamahiko Town, taking charge of a dozen unique shops while meeting over 100 charming Tamagotchi characters.
Creating a welcoming and lively atmosphere, some of the shops even include two-player co-op mini-games for a bit of friendly competition or collaboration. You’ll also have the opportunity to use a unique linking feature with Tamagotchi Uni, unlocking exclusive items for a richer gaming experience.
In an exciting announcement, Bandai Namco Entertainment showcased the game during their recent reveal. Originally, the Tamagotchi Connection: Corner Shop series first won over fans when it was released in North America in 2006, providing a fresh twist on the classic Tamagotchi formula. But since 2008, there hasn’t been a new addition to this cozy little saga. Thankfully, the wait is over, as confirmed during March’s Nintendo Direct livestream, this charming shop sim is set to make a triumphant return nearly two decades later.
On the 27th of June, players can step into the world of Tamahiko Town during the Tamagotchi Fest. Here, they’ll become shopkeepers who add life and vibrancy to the town by opening and nurturing a variety of establishments. From dental clinics to eyewear shops, each is packed with its own engaging mini-games. As fans satisfy their virtual customers, they’ll unlock opportunities to upgrade their stores and form connections with both new and classic Tamagotchi faces such as Mametchi, Kuchipatchi, and Memetchi. Plus, players can look forward to encountering a brand-new character exclusive to this game.
The developers have also revealed that Tamagotchi Plaza will support offline two-player modes, perfect for playing with a friend. Moreover, thanks to the integration with the Tamagotchi Uni toy, players can further enrich their game by unlocking special goodies and accessing special events—though it’s worth noting that the Tamagotchi Uni isn’t available in all regions yet.
In an interesting twist, Tamagotchi Plaza isn’t the only beloved series making its return. Fans can also look forward to a new installment of Tomodachi Life on Nintendo Switch, slated for release in 2026.
The March 27 Nintendo Direct was packed with surprises, including the impromptu release of three new titles for the Switch, such as Disney Villains Cursed Cafe, highlighting the platform’s increasingly diverse line-up. As we await more updates on Tamagotchi Plaza, it’s clear that Bandai Namco and Nintendo continue to breathe new life into fan-favorite franchises.
