Two Resident Evil Classics Set for Native PS5 Releases

### Resident Evil 5 and 6 are Getting a PS5 Release

A fresh wave of excitement has been stirred up by recent ESRB listings (thanks to the eagle-eyed Wario64) indicating that new ports for Resident Evil 5 and 6 are on the horizon. While these listings specifically mention the Xbox Series consoles, it’s not much of a leap to expect these native ports to appear on the PS5 as well.

Fans dreaming of a complete remake of Resident Evil 5 might need to temper their expectations, given the close timing of these ratings. It looks like these are straightforward ports rather than full-blown remasters, which typically means not many new features are added compared to their last-generation counterparts. At best, the PS5’s power might provide a bump in resolution.

Both Resident Evil 5 and 6 are already available on the PlayStation Store as PS4 versions, currently priced at just $4.99 each. They can also be played on PS5 consoles, thanks to backward compatibility.

Resident Evil 5 made its debut in 2009 and was met with positive feedback, boasting an average Metacritic score of 83 based on 91 critic reviews. In contrast, Resident Evil 6, released in 2012, remains a polarizing entry. It carries an average score of 67 on Metacritic from 71 reviews, often considered the weakest link in the esteemed survival horror series.
