If you’ve ever felt frustrated by the tiny screens of current handheld devices, Tencent has a treat for you. According to Videocardz, Tencent has unveiled a new gadget geared for those who crave something portable yet robust. Meet the Sunday Dragon 3D One. While it’s technically a handheld device, its impressive specs lean more towards a portable console experience. This beast is powered by an Intel Lunar Lake CPU and boasts a massive 11-inch display, promising an immersive viewing experience—if you can manage to hold it!
Under the hood, the 3D One features the Core Ultra 7 258V processor. It’s equipped with four Performance Cores (known as Lion Cove) and another set of four Efficiency Cores (dubbed Skymont). Adding to its power is the Arc 140V Integrated GPU, armed with eight Xe2 cores. From our extensive testing, we’ve found that Intel’s latest Lunar Lake processors are finally giving AMD’s Strix Point, or Ryzen AI 300 APUs, a run for their money in the gaming arena. Enthusiasts will also appreciate the generous 32GB of LPDDR5X-8533 RAM. However, be mindful; the RAM comes soldered onto the CPU die, so upgrading isn’t an option. On the plus side, there’s mention of a “high-speed” 1TB SSD, which thankfully does allow for upgrades if you’re craving more speed or storage space.
The timing of the 3D One’s release might just be perfect. If it hits the market this year as planned, it could very well be the first Lunar Lake handheld available, since MSI’s Claw 8 AI+ won’t see the light of day until early 2025. But let’s manage our expectations here; according to Videocardz, the 3D One is currently only a prototype. Its standout feature is undoubtedly the massive 11-inch 2560×1440 display with a 120Hz refresh rate, which might blur the lines between handheld and laptop due to its size. In comparison, upcoming mini-laptops like the ones from GPD hover around the 8.8-inch mark. Tencent’s latest gadget also showcases cutting-edge real-time eye-tracking technology for a glasses-free 3D experience—a feature optimized for select games like Path of Exile, Blade & Soul, and Arena Breakout: Infinite.
The 3D One comes with detachable controllers featuring Hall Effect joysticks, linear triggers, and two customizable rear buttons. Want to switch them out for third-party controllers? Go right ahead, just ensure they’re a match for this uniquely sized device. Although we weren’t given details on battery capacity, rest assured, it supports 100W fast-charging, which is a nice touch for gamers on the go.
Design-wise, the 3D One dares to be different. Traditional handhelds emphasize portability and ease of use—something you can comfortably hold during long gaming sessions. Still, for those who find smaller screens somewhat lacking, the 3D One’s generous display could be a welcome change. However, as it’s still a prototype, its availability will likely be limited both geographically and in terms of appeal, as not everyone may desire such a sizable handheld.
