Studio Fizbin, the creative force behind Reignbreaker, is gearing up for closure this month. This development was shared in a heartfelt message on their website, pinpointed by Game Developer, revealing that the studio will shut its doors following the release of Reignbreaker on March 18th. Alexander Pieper, the passionate founder and CEO, explained that the decision ties back to Thunderful’s move to significantly scale back its internal development activities.
In his candid sharing, Pieper noted, “The gaming industry is facing challenging times, and, like so many outstanding studios, we’ve been caught in the crossfire over recent months.”
He elaborated on the situation further, “Our parent company, Thunderful, decided to make a significant cut in their internal projects back in November 2024. As Thunderful’s CEO Martin highlighted in the latest quarterly report, this decision also impacted Studio Fizbin. Since that announcement, we’ve been diligently searching for new opportunities to embark on post-Reignbreaker. Sadly, none of these have panned out, compelling us to make this tough call.”
Pieper took a moment to express gratitude to their community, saying, “We owe a huge thank you to our fans for everything – from your purchases and creative fan art to your feedback, reviews, and unwavering enthusiasm. Your support has been nothing short of amazing.”
He didn’t stop there, adding thanks to their business partners and funding collaborators, “We are also grateful to our business partners, Medienboard, MfG, Creative Europe, and the federal funders for standing by us.”
In a heartfelt conclusion, Pieper acknowledged the talented team at Fizbin, “The biggest thanks go to our team – those who are with us until the very end, and those who have ventured onto new paths. Our games are a reflection of the incredible people behind them. You’ve all contributed to making Fizbin a magical place where the challenging art of game creation flourished.”
