Ever since the PS5 version of Forza Horizon 5 was unveiled, there’s been a noticeable shift in the gaming world. It feels like the door is wide open, welcoming Xbox games onto Sony’s platform. Whispers have been circulating for a while now, suggesting that Marcus Fenix and his epic battle against the Locust Horde could soon make their way to PlayStation. Excitingly, it appears that this isn’t just about one game but rather a collection of the first three Gears of War titles, which are set to drop on both the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S at the same time.
### A Collection of the First Three Gears of War Games Arriving on PS5
According to the well-known insider, eXtas1s, plans are underway for a Gears of War collection. While they haven’t pinned down an announcement date, they are pretty confident it will launch across multiple platforms. Interestingly, fans can expect cross-play functionality, meaning folks will be able to battle it out across PC, Xbox, and PlayStation seamlessly.
eXtas1s shared, “I can discuss the Gears Collection because it took me quite a bit of effort to verify its existence, but it seems to be real. I can affirm that, when the Gears Collection is announced (though I’m not sure when that will be), it will be launched as a multi-platform title from day one,”—a statement shared via a translation by ResetEra’s Rychu. They added, “And I’ll reiterate, when these kinds of remasters get announced, they’ll be playable across different platforms all at once. The one thing still up in the air is whether it will be available on the Switch, but it’s confirmed for cross-platform play on PC, Xbox, and PlayStation.”
This rumor isn’t entirely new either. Earlier this month, Jez Corden from Windows Central hinted that Gears of War: Ultimate Edition might land on Sony’s console somewhere around 2025.
As with any speculation, it’s wise to keep expectations in check. Though there seems to be a chorus of leakers echoing similar claims, the reality is that game development is fluid and things could change overnight, making these rumors moot. Until there’s an official announcement, we’ll just have to keep our fingers crossed.
