Fans of Splitgate, gear up, because the anticipated sequel to this breakout shooter is now open for playtest registration!
Now and then, a shooter bursts onto the scene, catching everyone by surprise despite having been around for some time. That was the case with Splitgate back in 2021. It gained a massive following during its indefinite beta phase, although the game had already been in early access for a couple of years before that. Following the full game launch the next year, 1047 Games delivered an exciting announcement: they’d be pausing new feature development for their beloved Halo-meets-Portal game to pour their efforts into a sequel built with Unreal Engine 5!
Earlier this year, the sequel was officially announced, targeting a release sometime in 2025. Now, as shared in a recent post on the game’s official Twitter account, you can sign up for a chance to participate in the upcoming playtest session.
“Suit up and prepare for more Splitgate 2 action!” teases the tweet about the playtest. “We’ve been cooking up something explosive and can’t wait to get your feedback.” Signing up is straightforward—just a Google form with some basic questions about your experience with the first game, other recent shooters you’ve played, and your preferred gaming platforms.
However, be aware that the form asks for your Steam and Discord handles, likely because these platforms will be key parts of the testing process. If you prefer to keep these private, you might have to sit this one out.
Last September, our very own Connor had the chance to chat with the CEO of 1047 Games. Their discussion delved into how the team aims to keep the game fresh and innovative, drawing inspiration from titles like Halo Reach. It’s definitely worth a read!
