OneXPlayer has just introduced the X1 Pro, a versatile 3-in-1 device that’s powered by AMD’s Strix Point APUs. Coming on the heels of the F1 Pro and the Ayaneo 3, this handheld is among the pioneers in featuring AMD’s Zen 5 Strix Point APUs, and it poses a formidable challenge to GPD’s upcoming Pocket 4 mini-laptops.
The standout feature of the OneXPlayer X1 Pro is its multifunctional design. It easily transitions from a laptop to a tablet to a handheld gaming device. Mirroring the Pocket 4, the X1 Pro is equipped with the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370. This chip boasts 12 cores (a combination of four Zen 5 and eight Zen5c) in a dual-CCX formation, with 12MB of L2 cache and 24MB of L3 cache, and it can reach boost speeds of 5.1 GHz. On the graphics front, the device has the Radeon 890M iGPU with 16 Compute Units, all underpinned by AMD’s XDNA 2 with an NPU capable of delivering 50 TOPS of AI prowess.
Its display is nothing short of amazing, sporting a 10.95-inch 120 Hz LTPS panel, presumably IPS, with a stunning 2560×1600 (2.5K) resolution. It doesn’t stop there. The color reproduction is breathtaking, covering 138% of the sRGB spectrum, and reaching brightness levels of 540 nits. You can customize your storage from a generous 1TB all the way up to a massive 4TB, with read speeds hitting 7.1 GB/s and write speeds at 6.5 GB/s in the 2280 form factor. For those in need of even more space, there’s a MicroSD card slot.
Here’s a quick look at the pricing:
– HX 370 + 1TB Storage + 32GB RAM is available at a presale price of $1,399, later retailing for $1,599.
– HX 370 + 2TB Storage + 32GB RAM starts at $1,499, with a retail price of $1,699.
– HX 370 + 2TB Storage + 64GB RAM is $1,699 during presale, rising to $1,859.
– HX 370 + 4TB Storage + 64GB RAM is priced at $1,799, later reaching $1,999.
Among its other features, the X1 Pro offers a 65.02Wh battery, promising up to eight hours of usage, though actual performance might vary; it should deliver about two hours when set at 28W. A 100W Gallium Nitride charger is also included. On the connectivity front, users can enjoy Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2.
The device’s controller is equipped with hall-effect RGB joysticks to minimize stick drift. As for I/O options, it provides two USB 4.0 ports, an OCuLink interface, a USB 3.2 Type-A port, a MicroSD card slot, and a 3.5mm audio jack.
If you’re eager to get your hands on the X1 Pro, pre-orders have begun, and there are some tempting discounts available during the presale. Expect shipping to kick off on January 3rd, and keep an eye out for OneXPlayer’s showcase of the X1 Pro alongside other gadgets at CES 2025 next month.
