Exciting times for PlayStation enthusiasts and those who adore vibrant, cheerful gameplay! Last night, Astro Bot clinched a prestigious BAFTA, not just any award, but the coveted Game of the Year title. It triumphed over strong contenders like Helldivers 2 and Balatro to snag the top honor.
But that’s not all—Astro Bot also walked away with several other accolades, including awards for Audio Achievement, Animation, Family, and Game Design. This is on top of its previous Game of the Year win at The Game Awards last year. Astro Bot truly stood out amidst a fiercely competitive 2024 lineup.
Amidst a round of applause, the team representatives accepted the awards together. Nicolas Doucet took to the stage to deliver a heartfelt speech, giving a special shout-out to the dedicated team in Japan. “A huge thanks to everyone back in Japan. Day by day, they poured love and care into crafting this game. Winning wasn’t the goal; we just aimed to bring joy into people’s lives,” he remarked.
Doucet continued, expressing gratitude to key team members, the game’s composer, the entire PlayStation family, and the partners featured within Astro Bot. His thanks extended to the BAFTA academy, the developers’ families, and the trailblazing video game creators who paved the way.
