Path of Exile 2 is set to launch later today, and it seems like the early-access sales are absolutely on fire. They’re so intense that Jonathan Rogers, the game director, has felt the need to address the community with a video message. He’s giving everyone a heads-up that they might encounter login queues once the servers are officially live.
In the video, Rogers shares some thoughts about what might be in store for the ever-growing group of players eager to jump in as the game goes live. With over a million players lined up for early access, this could be a first-day frenzy like no other.

The enthusiasm surrounding Path of Exile 2 has surpassed all their initial expectations, which is thrilling, yet comes with its own set of complications. As they’ve graciously pointed out, there might be queues over the weekend, something they’re candidly acknowledging.
Rogers mentions, “This is obviously fantastic news, but it does come with its own set of challenges.” He adds, “We didn’t anticipate having a million players online simultaneously when we initially planned our server capacity. We’ve expanded our cloud resources significantly, and more servers will come online shortly, though I am slightly concerned about the backend capabilities.”
He candidly admits, “We’re quite uncertain about how our backend services will perform with over a million users. We’ve increased our data shards and scaled up everything as much as possible, but we still don’t know where we might encounter limits. This early access has grown beyond anything we envisioned.”
Closing his message, Rogers expresses, “I want to say a huge thank you. Your belief in our project means the world. If we experience any server hiccups at the launch, know that we’re committed to resolving them quickly. Thanks a lot, everyone.”
Facing a login queue is as classic a gaming experience as it gets, but there’s an upside—Path of Exile 2 has blown past Grinding Gear Games’ expectations. It’s heartening to see such a strong response, especially since this sequel is shaping up to be a standout addition to an already stellar ARPG series.
