According to the latest updates, it seems like there’s a bit of a delay in the release of the RTX 5060 series GPUs. Initially, these were expected to hit the shelves in the upcoming weeks, but now it looks like we’ll have to wait just a little bit longer.
Just as folks were getting ready for the GeForce RTX 5070’s big debut, word started to circulate about some holdups with the RTX 5060 series. At first, there was talk about these GPUs making their debut in March and launching in April, but new reports suggest we’ll be waiting a bit beyond that timeframe.
While the reasons behind this delay aren’t crystal clear, Board Channels has confirmed that NVIDIA’s board partners have been in the loop. Although nothing’s been officially announced yet, NVIDIA hasn’t really opened up about the RTX 5060 release. There’s a good chance these rumors could turn out to be true. Previously, murmurs about potential bugs and supply chain disruptions floated around as possible culprits for these delays, but NVIDIA has kept mum on those as well.
As per the internal memo sent out to AIC partners, all brands have been informed that the RTX 5060 Ti and 5060 series releases are being postponed. The recent updates say the RTX 5060 Ti 16G/8G will likely drop by mid-April, with the RTX 5060 following a month later in mid-May. Of course, these timelines are tentative and subject to change.
The updated launch schedule puts the RTX 5060 Ti on track for a ‘mid-April’ release, with both its versions expected to hit the market simultaneously. The RTX 5060 should roll out a month after that, around ‘mid-May.’ Exact launch dates remain under wraps, even from NVIDIA’s board partners at this point.
Interestingly, there’s a possibility that the release of the RTX 5060 series might coincide with AMD’s rollout of the RX 9060 series GPUs. AMD’s offering will include the RX 9060 XT and RX 9060 models, available in both 8 GB and 16 GB variants. These are poised to compete directly with the 8 GB and 16 GB versions of the RTX 5060 Ti. No word yet on exactly when the RX 9060 series will launch, but all signs point toward a second-quarter debut.
For the tech enthusiasts out there, NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 5060 Ti will take the reins from the RTX 4060 Ti and boast 4608 CUDA Cores, alongside 8/16 GB of GDDR7 VRAM, with a TDP of 180W. Meanwhile, the RTX 5060 will succeed the RTX 4060 with 3840 CUDA Cores, 8 GB of GDDR7 VRAM, and a TDP of 150W. There’s also been some recent chatter about a 12 GB VRAM version of the RTX 5060 popping up in leaks. Although this isn’t confirmed, it could potentially give NVIDIA an edge over AMD’s RX 9060 series, which is expected to only offer an 8 GB variant.
