To clarify, “Echoes of Wisdom” sits on the timeline branch where “the hero is defeated,” a divergence that stems from “Zelda: Ocarina of Time.” There’s another branch where “the hero is triumphant,” which further diverges into the “child era” with “Majora’s Mask,” “Twilight Princess,” and “Four Swords Adventures,” or the “adult era” featuring “The Wind Waker,” “Phantom Hourglass,” and “Spirit Tracks.” Regardless of the path, “Breath of the Wild” and “Tears of the Kingdom” consistently mark the timeline’s conclusion.
