Wow, 2,500 games. Seriously, someone stop the madness!
While we were distracted last week, the North American gaming scene saw a +19 week with the unexpected launch of Ironfall Invasion, originally a gem from the 3DS era. Stay tuned for John’s review, and fingers crossed it’s free of any major security issues! We also saw the rare Fantastic Night Dreams Cotton added to the Archives collection.
That hefty addition brought us to 65 new titles for the week in North America, not only surpassing last year’s total but also pushing the overall tally beyond 2,500 releases. And just as my own personal nightmare kicks off at work (I haven’t had a proper holiday in seven years unless you count a hospital stay), it’s enough to make anyone a bit grouchy. But let’s keep going.
Our most significant release this week is a rescued title as well. Hironobu Sakaguchi, the mastermind behind Final Fantasy, is bringing Fantasian Neo Dimension to consoles. This former Apple Arcade exclusive now shares the spotlight with a Nintendo-published debut (outside Japan) of Fitness Boxing 3. Also making the transition is the classic Roller Coaster Tycoon series, now supposedly adapted for console play. The anticipated fighter Diesel Legacy: The Brazen Age, which you might have spotted in various showcases, is finally here. And there’s AntonBlast, though pricing details remain elusive.
On a smaller scale, we’ve got the EggConsole’s Riglas, a side-scrolling RPG in the vein of Ys III, which is user-friendly even without knowing Japanese. Another unique addition is what appears to be the first-ever console game based on the MasterChef series, which visually resembles Gordon Ramsay’s infamous "exotic tartare."
