Mortal Kombat 1 enthusiasts are buzzing with speculation about a potential surprise character in the latest DLC, a mystery that series creator Ed Boon has seemingly hinted at for a while. As of January 21, Conan the Barbarian will crash into the brutal world of Mortal Kombat 1, joining the esteemed roster of Kombat Pack 2. He won’t be entering the arena alone, as he’s set to join other iconic figures like Ghostface from the Scream franchise and the awaited T-1000 from Terminator 2.
Recently, a new trailer showcased Conan’s brutal gameplay, offering a sneak peek at his cinematic attacks, dramatic character encounters, and lethal Fatalities. Staying true to Mortal Kombat’s tradition of honoring beloved guest stars, Conan is meticulously brought to life in the game. Arnold Schwarzenegger’s likeness is expertly captured, and voice actor Chris Cox, known for his work with the Terminator in Mortal Kombat 11, lends his vocal skills to bring Conan roaring to life.
Amidst all the Conan hype, eagle-eyed fans noticed an intriguing Easter egg in the latest gameplay reveal. YouTuber Super, who gained early access to Conan, noticed something peculiar during a mirror match. Conan’s victory sequence displayed the name “Floyd” in bright pink letters, accompanied by a striking guitar riff, sparking curiosity and speculation across the community.
Now, there’s growing chatter about this potential hidden character named Floyd. Although Super wasn’t able to recreate the phenomenon consistently, another user by the name thetiny encountered the same bizarre message. Fans quickly connected this to a comment Ed Boon made a while back, where he expressed interest in adding a pink ninja named Floyd to the Mortal Kombat lineup. Supporting these wild theories, thetiny also stumbled upon references to Floyd in Mortal Kombat 1’s source code last year.
The mysterious Floyd, with his rumored pink outfit, hints at a tribute to the legendary band Pink Floyd. This isn’t a first for Mortal Kombat, as the character Rain was inspired by Prince’s “Purple Rain.” Although it’s uncertain if players will face Floyd in Mortal Kombat 1 or if he’ll become a fully playable character, the anticipation is palpable. Meanwhile, players can gear up for Conan the Barbarian’s debut, ready to unleash havoc and dominate his adversaries come January 21.
