Moon Beast Productions has just landed $4.5 million in seed funding, marking a significant milestone for the budding game studio. The funding round was spearheaded by 1AM Gaming, with generous contributions from 1UP Ventures, The Mini Fund, Overwolf, and Versus Ventures, along with several angel investors joining in on the venture.
This substantial investment will fuel the development of an exciting new action RPG that promises to shake up traditional game design norms. Moon Beast, established in March 2022 by former Diablo 2 team veterans Peter Hu and Phil Shenk, is on a mission to push boundaries in the gaming industry. In an exciting development, Erich Schaefer, the co-creator of Diablo 2, came on board the next year as the chief creative officer.

Phil Shenk chimed in, saying, “We’ve always been trailblazers. We’ve never settled for merely following the trends. From our early days revolutionizing action RPGs with Diablo and Diablo 2 to ventures like Hellgate: London, Torchlight, and Marvel Heroes Online, we’ve constantly challenged the norms and elevated player expectations in the genre.”
