Microsoft recently acknowledged a hiccup with its latest Windows 11 version, 24H2, which is causing problems for certain popular Ubisoft games, including “Star Wars Outlaws” and “Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.”
According to VGC, Microsoft has taken the proactive step of updating its support site to inform users about a temporary block for those with affected Ubisoft titles installed on their systems. The company stated, “If you’ve installed Windows 11 version 24H2, you might run into trouble with certain Ubisoft games. They may freeze up during startup, while loading, or even amid gameplay.” This issue could sometimes result in a dreaded black screen, impacting a lineup of games like “Assassin’s Creed Valhalla,” “Assassin’s Creed Origins,” “Assassin’s Creed Odyssey,” “Star Wars Outlaws,” and “Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora.”
To prevent this from becoming a widespread problem, Microsoft is implementing a compatibility hold. This means that devices with these games won’t be prompted to update to version 24H2 through the standard Windows Update channel. Even though Ubisoft has addressed some issues within “Star Wars Outlaws” via their Title Update 1.4, Microsoft warns that players might continue facing difficulties. As of now, there’s no specified timeline for a comprehensive fix, but PC gamers enjoying Ubisoft’s titles are advised to hold off on updating to 24H2 if possible.
