In a recent update, Seattle-based Jar of Sparks has informed its team that they’re hitting the pause button on their inaugural project as they search for a new publishing partner. The studio’s founder, Jerry Hook, shared this development on LinkedIn, highlighting the pride they feel in the efforts made so far. Established in July 2024 with support from Chinese entertainment leader NetEase, it appears that NetEase has decided to step back from supporting this unveiling project.
Expressing his thoughts, Hook wrote, “Our journey has been marked by a team full of passion and innovation. We’ve taken bold risks, pushing boundaries to craft something fresh and thrilling for the gaming world.” He continued, “We’re immensely proud of the foundation we’ve built together. As we move forward, our talented team members will be seeking new ventures. If you’re on the lookout for top-notch professionals who are innovative and driven, feel free to reach out. We’d be delighted to connect you with some of the finest developers I’ve had the honor of working alongside.”
This announcement marks the second time a NetEase-supported studio has paused development in recent months. Back in November, Worlds Untold also declared a halt on their first project.
