In Marvel Rivals, there’s an intriguing new feature called Recursive Destruction that lets you restore terrain and objects back to their original state. This cool trick is exclusive to the Midtown map, and to get the most out of it, you’ll have to use it during a mission in the Midnight Features seasonal event. It might seem a bit complicated at first, but don’t worry—I’m here to walk you through how to make it happen.
To trigger Recursive Destruction, you first need to jump into a quick match on the Midtown map. Thankfully, there’s a special limited-time mode that’s just for Midtown, so if you’re eager to complete the Recursive Destruction mission quickly, be sure to join a queue for Midtown.
As you’re navigating Midtown, you’ll want to use your Chrono Vision. If you’re on a PC, hit ‘B’. If you’re on a console, it’s the right button on the D-pad. Normally, when you’re playing, you’ll notice walls and objects highlighted in yellow, but here’s the twist: on Midtown, certain sections of terrain appear highlighted in red.
Your goal is to cause damage to these red-highlighted objects. Once they take enough damage, you’ll witness the magic of Recursive Destruction as the terrain restores itself. It’s a pretty cool thing to see in action.
However, there’s a catch. You can only activate Recursive Destruction at specific spots on the map and only once you’ve reached the needed checkpoints. Trying to damage these objects before reaching the checkpoints won’t have any effect. So, make sure you’re advancing that convoy steadily to unlock these hidden gems of the game.
