Hi everyone! Exciting news for all you Fatal Fury fans out there. SNK has just unveiled a thrilling feature for their latest installment in the legendary fighting game series, Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, which is now available on Xbox Series X|S. The game welcomes back the much-loved Two-Lane Battle system, adding a dynamic twist to the gameplay. For the first time in nearly three decades, players can experience the thrill of switching between foreground and background lanes in battle, even pulling off combos that span both lanes! It’s a fantastic nod to the arcade era of the past.
Let’s dive right into what’s new. Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, making its comeback after 26 years, features the eagerly awaited Two-Lane Battle system. This brings two-lane combat to select stages, allowing fighters to move freely between the foreground and background lanes by using a specific attack. This feature not only jazzes up the action with tactical possibilities but also adds layers of strategy, making each battle unpredictable and thrilling.
Set your sights on the Dream Amusement Park “Morning” stage to try this system out. Initially, it’s the sole stage with the Two-Lane setup, but there’s more to come! You’ll start each fight along the same lane as your opponent, and with a simultaneous press of X and RB, you can switch lanes. Want to attack while making the switch? Press A and RB for a special jumping switch attack to up the ante.
Once you manage to position your character in a different lane from your opponent, the door opens to a range of strategic attacks. Prefer to stay grounded? The X button will let you execute a ground attack to switch lanes. Looking for some aerial action? Use the A or B buttons for jumping lane attacks. And if you’d like to drag your opponent into your lane, pressing Y will accomplish that with a special pullback move.
Incorporating jumping lane switch attacks into your combos allows you to launch thrilling cross-lane combos. For a taste of how this works, check out a sample combo with Rock: X → Y → A + RB → B → Heavy Rising Tackle (Brake) → Heavy Hard Edge. Experimenting with these combos can propel your gameplay to a new level.
The Two-Lane Battle system is a beloved aspect of Fatal Fury’s history, first introduced in 1991. Now, it’s back, and fans old and new can revel in the chaos and complexity it brings to the series. Incorporated into the training mode as well, it invites players to unleash their creativity and redefine their fighting styles. Whether you’re a die-hard fan eager to relive the series’ golden days or a newcomer ready to embrace the Two-Lane madness, there’s something here for everyone.
We’re thrilled to bring you this iconic game in the series. Available now for Xbox Series X|S, it’s the perfect time to jump into the action. Stay updated on every exciting development by following our official X account or joining the community Discord. Here’s to revving up the excitement!
