Planning to catch Star Wars Skeleton Crew on Disney Plus this December 3rd? Well, think twice because Disney has decided to move up the date.
In its latest update, Disney has sweetened the deal for fans eager to dive into the Star Wars saga, announcing that Skeleton Crew will now be available on their streaming platform a day earlier than planned, debuting on December 2nd. While it’s just a small shift, there’s got to be a reason behind this seemingly random change—though it’s anybody’s guess what that might be! While this tweak might not cause a huge stir, what’s exciting is that the show kicks off with a two-episode premiere. So if the first episode catches your fancy, you won’t have to twiddle your thumbs waiting long for the follow-up. Quite a few noteworthy directors will be helming the eight episodes, so let’s dive into who’s who.
Kicking off the show is Jon Watts, who directed the Tom Holland Spider-Man movies, and he’ll also be wrapping things up with the eighth episode. For episodes two and three, David Lowery steps in, known for a mix of big flicks such as last year’s Peter Pan & Wendy and more critically acclaimed films like The Green Knight and A Ghost Story. The fourth episode is in the hands of The Daniels, the creators behind 2022’s hit Everything Everywhere All at Once. Following them for episode five is Jake Schreier, who’s set to direct the forthcoming Marvel film, Thunderbolts.
Episode six will be steered by Bryce Dallas Howard, who’s no rookie when it comes to Star Wars, having directed several episodes of The Mandalorian. Episode seven brings Lee Isaac Chun, another directorial hand from The Mandalorian, also known for the blockbuster Twisters.
Skeleton Crew promises an intriguing narrative that “follows the journey of four kids who make a mysterious discovery on their seemingly safe home planet, only to find themselves lost in a strange and dangerous galaxy.” As they navigate their way back home, encountering unexpected allies and foes, the adventure proves to be bigger than they ever imagined. With Jude Law leading the cast, audiences might expect an escapade reminiscent of a Spielberg-style adventure film.
