Looking forward to more excitement in Pokemon TCG Pocket? You’re in for a treat, as a fresh expansion is set to launch next week, bringing with it a brand-new booster pack that could land you the elusive Mew.
According to a recent Tweet from the official game account, this expansion, titled Mythical Island, is landing on Tuesday, December 17. The TCG Pocket social media team humorously shared, “I did a lot to get this info out to you guys. (In reality, I just asked very nicely and shed a few tears).”
In the video trailer below, you’ll spot a whole new collection of cards, featuring Mew, Aerodactyl, and Celebi among the exciting ones you can score in the new Mythical Island booster pack. This release provides a fantastic alternative for those who’ve already collected a gazillion Doduos (or whatever the plural might be!).
The trailer’s description hints at over 80 cards in the Mythical Island expansion, including five intriguing Pokémon ex cards, five new Trainer cards, and beautifully designed immersive cards that transport you straight into the marvelous world of Pokémon.
Additionally, new binder and display board covers showcasing the charm of Mythical Island will be available for collectors. These let you send your little team of mythical creature combatants on a mini-vacation—or at least let them pretend, fitting perfectly with Pokémon’s quirky style of magical wildlife management, which can veer onto shaky moral ground if you ponder it for too long.
Do Pokémon actually enjoy their seemingly eternal lives as fighters in card arenas? Who knows for sure, but with The Pokémon Company announcing that TCG Pocket has surpassed 60 million downloads, I’m not inclined to over-analyze and upset such a massive fanbase, myself included—that’d just be too much of a mind-bender.
