Feeling a bit frustrated about just reading or hearing about “Dune Awakening” without the chance to dive into it? Well, good news! You’ll get the opportunity to play the game soon with a free open beta weekend scheduled from May 9 to May 12.
To join in, you can either wishlist the game before May 9 and hope for an invite or snag one of the many beta codes that the developers will distribute during the weekend. It’s an open beta, but with a twist—it’s only for those who manage to secure access. Think of it as the door being slightly open, just enough to peek inside.
Interestingly, this beta is happening just a few days before the game’s original release date of May 15. The delay was made to allow Funcom some extra time to ensure everything is perfectly polished for the full release.
For those lucky enough to join the beta, you’ll get to explore the first two regions, which should keep you busy for around 20 hours of gameplay. This includes wandering through various Research Facilities, trying out early character abilities, and engaging in some PvP action at ship crash sites—a great way to get a taste of what’s to come. If you’re curious about our thoughts, we’ve just released a new preview of “Dune Awakening” that dives into this part of the adventure.
