At today’s Nintendo Treehouse live event, there was an exciting moment for fans of classic games. The Nintendo team unveiled some beloved Gamecube titles that are making their way onto Nintendo Switch Online with the upcoming Switch 2. During a quick look at the options menu, an intriguing feature caught our eye: a CRT filter option. This is quite noteworthy because, until now, only the Nintendo 64 has been available on NSO as a 3D system, and it doesn’t offer a similar filter.
What’s really intriguing is how this CRT filter might work with the updated resolution. Will it adapt to the sharper 900p, or will it reduce the resolution to more closely mimic that old-school CRT output? This development also raises a question: could we possibly see a similar update for Nintendo 64 games on NSO, complete with their own CRT filter, sometime down the line? It’s an interesting prospect that keeps us looking forward to what Nintendo has up its sleeve.
