Respawn Entertainment has just released an exciting Apex Legends update, tweaking the abilities of a handful of Legends as well as adjusting several weapons. This latest update follows closely on the heels of the mid-season update for Season 24, which landed on March 25, continuing the ongoing effort to fine-tune the battle royale experience.
Apex Legends has experienced a whirlwind of changes over the past few seasons. While we haven’t seen a new Legend since Season 21’s Alter, Respawn has been busy shaking things up across the game’s various classes. The mid-season update for Season 24 brought significant changes to the Skirmishers, enhancing their perks for more mobility. Now, Respawn has rolled out another set of updates aimed at balancing the game further.
The patch rolled out in April brings some interesting tweaks to Mirage, Ash, Seer, and Conduit. Notably, Ash’s Phase Breach now takes longer to cover the maximum distance—2.5 seconds instead of the previous 1.4 seconds. This alteration also affects the minimum distance, bumping it up from 0.3 seconds to 0.5 seconds. These changes mean that Ash players will need slightly more time to reposition, which in turn gives opposing teams a bit more breathing room to counter.
In contrast, Mirage has gotten a cool little buff. During his Ultimate, he now deploys six decoys instead of five. Conduit’s Tactical ability now provides a bit more health regen per tick, increasing from three to four shields. And Seer’s Tactical has undergone a bit of fine-tuning, with a quicker activation period, now taking only 0.8 seconds, down from 1.4 seconds, and its execution time has been reduced just slightly from 1.0 to 0.9 seconds.
Weapon balances haven’t been overlooked in this update, either. The Hemlock has seen a bit of a buff, with its headshot damage increased by two, and its magazine size upped by three for everything below the purple attachment tier. Submachine Guns (SMGs) have had their headshot damage increased by one. However, not all tweaks were buffs. The damage output of the P2020 has been decreased slightly from 25 to 24, and the L-Star has received a noticeable recoil increase and a reduced projectile size. Additionally, Ultimate charge gains from Accelerated Weapons through knocks have been dialed back from 30% to 20%.
The coming days will be crucial for players to see how these changes shake up the Apex Legends meta. While this update isn’t quite as monumental as the mid-season overhaul, it does promise to iron out some persistent player frustrations. Only time will reveal if these adjustments successfully enhance the Apex Legends experience.
