Anomaly, the latest venture from the team behind Swarm, is set to hit Meta Quest platforms in early December, bringing an exciting new extraction shooter experience to VR fans.
Developed by Greensky Games, the creators responsible for Swarm and Swarm 2, Anomaly takes players into the not-so-distant future of 2050. This game plunges you into a forsaken city that’s been carved into three unique zones. Your mission? Survive hostile groups and monstrous threats in your quest to secure a coveted Artifact and make your escape.
Gamers have the freedom to tackle challenges solo or band together in squads of two or three. Anomaly sticks to the familiar extraction shooter formula: outsmart your rivals, fend off AI adversaries, hoard as much gear as you can, and escape intact. The stakes are high—fall in battle, and you’ll leave empty-handed.
In a recent statement, Peter Le Bek, Founder of Greensky Games, shared that Anomaly draws inspiration from classics like Escape from Tarkov and Hunt: Showdown.
“With Anomaly, we’re embracing the core of extraction shooters reminiscent of Tarkov and Hunt Showdown,” he explained. “Yet, it’s more than just action; it’s about the tension, the rush of narrowly escaping, and the dread of losing it all. This game is crafted for VR, and it heightens every match’s atmosphere—every heartbeat, every step, every decision becomes vividly intense in a way traditional games just can’t replicate.”
For those eager to get an early taste, a Closed Beta is currently underway, and enthusiasts can register to join. Gear up for Anomaly’s official release on the Meta Quest Store this December.
