Fast Travel Games, well-known in the VR scene, has just revealed their latest project: a VR shooter called Action Hero, set to launch next month on Quest devices. Drawing clear inspiration from the acclaimed Superhot and its VR counterpart, Action Hero employs a captivating mechanic where time only progresses when you move. This allows you to orchestrate action sequences straight out of a blockbuster, reminiscent of what we’ve seen in movies like John Wick.
Scheduled for release on December 12th for the Quest 2 and later models, Action Hero is all about putting you front and center as the main character across five distinct films, each representing different genres.
Each film in the game unfolds over four acts, with every act divided into five scenes. To move through these scenes, you’ll need to outwit enemies and dodge obstacles in breathtaking slow-mo. As you pick up speed, so too does time, making quick reactions and strategic thinking a must. But beware—take a hit, and you’re back to the start of that act, which keeps the stakes high and the adrenaline pumping.
So far, Fast Travel Games has teased a few of the genres players can expect: a heist caper, a treasure-hunting adventure reminiscent of Indiana Jones, a futuristic cyborg tale, and a ninja saga, the last of which was highlighted in the latest game trailer.
Action Hero doesn’t stop with just run-of-the-mill foes. Players can anticipate tense boss battles and unique weapons tailored to each movie scenario. Additionally, the game promises five ‘Director’s Cuts,’ offering revamped versions of each level filled with fresh, tougher challenges and quirky twists.
Exclusively launching on the Quest 2 and newer models on December 12th, Action Hero will be priced at $20. If you’re eager to dive into this cinematic VR experience, you can add it to your wishlist on the Horizon Store now.
