Gaijin Entertainment, well-known for their work on War Thunder since 2013, has some exciting news for fans of aerial combat. They’re gearing up to release their latest VR flight game, Aces of Thunder, on PSVR 2 and PC VR headsets sometime this year.
Initially announced in 2023, Aces of Thunder was first expected to hit the market in the fourth quarter of 2024. The game is set to feature some of the world’s most iconic World War aircraft, bringing them to life on SteamVR and PSVR 2.
Gaijin Entertainment has given us a glimpse of what’s in store, showcasing a diverse lineup of aircraft from both World Wars. This includes some stunning WWII planes, but they’ve also recently revealed an exciting collection of planes from the WWI era.
“You’ll get to fly legendary fighters like the Fokker Dr.I, flown by none other than the Red Baron, or the SPAD S.XIII, which was the aircraft of choice for René Fonck, the top-scoring Allied ace,” the studio boasts. These aircraft come with meticulously crafted cockpits, weapons true to the era, and flight models designed to give players a gameplay experience that’s as close to the real thing as possible.
In addition, players can expect to pilot a variety of WWII planes too, such as the American P-51 Mustang and P-63 Kingcobra, Germany’s Bf 109 and Fw 190, the Soviet Union’s IL-2, the iconic British Spitfire, and Japan’s A6M3 Zero.
While a definite release date for Aces of Thunder is still under wraps, the team has shared with Road to VR that they’re eyeing a 2025 launch. Meanwhile, eager pilots can add the game to their wishlist on Steam and in the PlayStation Store for PSVR 2.
As for the price tag, they’ve yet to disclose any details. Rest assured, we’re on the lookout for any new information about Aces of Thunder, and we’ll be sure to share updates as they arrive.
