NVIDIA and AMD are gearing up to release their budget-friendly graphics cards in May, vying for a stronghold in the mainstream market.
### NVIDIA & AMD Set to Compete in the Mid-Range GPU Market with RTX 5060 & RX 9060 XT
For those looking to get their hands on affordable mid-tier GPUs, options have been pretty limited. Recent generations, especially from NVIDIA, have suffered from low stock levels, which in turn has pushed prices way above their intended MSRPs. AMD’s RX 9070 series is also seeing high demand, making MSRP purchases a rare find. However, it looks like both NVIDIA and AMD are preparing to launch new products for mainstream buyers, as reported by Benchlife, with a likely launch next month.
Starting with NVIDIA, they’re expected to roll out the GeForce RTX 5060 on May 19. Specs suggest an 8 GB GDDR7 VRAM configuration, running at 28 Gbps through a 128-bit memory bus. The GeForce RTX 5060 will use more power—about a 35W increase in TDP compared to the RTX 4060. Here’s how the RTX 5060 stacks up against its predecessor:
– 25% More CUDA Cores
– Same Memory Capacity
– Faster GDDR7 Memory at 28 Gbps
– Increased Bandwidth by 64%
– 30% Higher Power Rating
On the AMD side, the Radeon RX 9060 XT is anticipated to debut on May 21 at Computex, with a potential retail launch extending into June. The RX 9060 XT will utilize the Navi 44 die within a 128-bit bus interface, available in 8GB and 16GB configurations, akin to NVIDIA’s RTX 5060 Ti. With 2,048 SPs—half of what’s in the Radeon RX 9070 XT—it runs game clocks at 2620 MHz and boost clocks at 3230 MHz, promising impressive performance for 1080p and 2K gaming.
We’ll bring you live coverage of NVIDIA and AMD’s GPU debuts straight from the Computex 2025 show floor. If possible, we’ll also share early previews. Competition in the mid-range GPU sector is heating up, making May a potentially pivotal month.
