Kluge Interactive, the creative minds behind the popular VR rhythm game Synth Riders from 2019, have some exciting news. They’re launching their latest venture, a VR fighting game called FINAL FURY, which will enter early access on Quest and SteamVR headsets next month.
Mark your calendars for May 8th when Final Fury debuts on Quest 2 and higher, as well as PC VR headsets. This arcade-style fighting game is set to bring the thrill of traditional 1v1 matches into the world of VR, utilizing a unique gesture-based gameplay system.
The development team enlisted insights from none other than nine-time EVO champion Justin Wong. With his expert input, the game blends hand gesture controls with room-scale movement, allowing you to step into the shoes of six different fighters, each with their own moves and arenas. And the excitement doesn’t stop there—more fighters and stages will be added after the launch.
“When the folks at Kluge Interactive approached me about FINAL FURY, I was fascinated by their idea of merging classic fighting game elements into a first-person VR format,” Wong stated. “After diving into the game and providing feedback on aspects such as dashes, grabs, and player styles, I’m eager to see how players will embrace it once it’s out in Early Access.”
At launch, here’s what players can expect:
You are the Fighter! – Dive into fully immersive VR battles, throwing real punches, and mastering dodges and blocks.
Innovative VR Combat – Experience classic fighting mechanics reimagined for a VR setting that requires physical gameplay.
Expanding Roster – Start with six fighters, each boasting unique abilities, arenas, and styles, with more to come.
Arcade Mode Unlocks – Challenge the AI to unlock new fighters, stages, and cosmetics.
Online Multiplayer – Enjoy smooth, competitive play thanks to cross-platform support with rollback netcode.
Pulse-Pounding OST – Jam to an original soundtrack composed by Zardonic, known for SUPERHOT: MCD.
For those eager to experience this, Final Fury is available to wishlist now on the Horizon Store for Quest 2 and above, as well as Steam for PC VR headsets. Priced at $9.99, it’s set to launch on May 8th. Don’t miss out on getting in early!
