Today, ILM and Lucasfilm lifted the curtain on the gameplay of their upcoming Quest 3 title, Star Wars: Beyond Victory – A Mixed Reality Playset. This intriguing new game merges both virtual and mixed reality to offer a unique experience.
Teaming up with Meta, the studios gave eager fans their first in-depth look at the game during the Star Wars Celebration 2025, held from April 18 to 20 in Tokyo, Japan. The event not only showcased gameplay but also unveiled the game’s initial teaser, building anticipation.
While still in the development phase, Star Wars: Beyond Victory is set in the era of Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018). The game promises three distinct modes when it officially debuts on Quest 3 and 3S.
This includes a captivating story mode centered on the podracer “Volo,” an arcade mode featuring thrilling mini-podracing on a mixed reality holotable, and a unique ‘playset’ mode. In the playset, players can spruce up their real-world environments with a collection of unlockable virtual action figures and vehicles, adding a personalized touch to the experience.
“This is more than just a game; we’re introducing a whole new way to explore the Star Wars galaxy,” explained Alyssa Finley, the game’s Executive Producer. “This mixed reality experience seamlessly combines physical and digital worlds in ways we’ve never done before, and we can’t wait to give our amazing Star Wars community a sneak peek.”
If you’re attending the event at Makuhari Messe in Tokyo starting this Friday, don’t miss the chance to try out Star Wars: Beyond Victory at ILM and Meta’s Quest booth in Hall 4, Booth #20-5. You’ll also find demo stations of the studio’s previous XR hits like Vader Immortal and Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy’s Edge.
While the official release date remains undisclosed, we’re gearing up for a steady stream of updates as the launch approaches. Stay tuned for more!
