Days Gone Remastered is gearing up for a grand re-introduction with its new Horde Assault mode, promising a substantial 10-hour extension to the gameplay and over 20 different weapons to explore. This fresh addition includes various game modifiers and enticing rewards, significantly enhancing the original gaming experience.
The remastered version, set to release on April 25, 2025, isn’t just stopping at Horde Assault. Days Gone Remastered also adds the nail-biting Permadeath and adrenaline-fueled Speedrun modes. While the original Days Gone, exclusive to the PS4 back in 2019, didn’t make waves initially, it’s since garnered a strong cult following. These devoted fans have long pushed for a sequel, although those calls have yet to be answered. Instead, February 2025 brought them a silver lining—an announcement during the State of Play livestream revealed a PS5-exclusive remaster of the beloved game. Now, Bend Studio is preparing to unleash an upgraded version featuring not only enhanced visuals but also exciting new content.
According to a recent update on the PlayStation Blog, the new Horde Assault mode in Days Gone Remastered will test players’ survival skills as they face waves of increasingly tougher enemies, including Reachers, Breakers, and formidable Rager bears. Players must outlast these hordes and achieve high scores using an arsenal that includes over 20 weapons, like the game-changing flamethrower. This mode introduces 24 gameplay modifiers known as Injectors, such as the explosive “Exploding Freakers” and the challenging “Wanted,” which sets the game to its most difficult mode from the start. To complement this, a new trailer showcases Deacon, Boozer, Rikki Patil, and other characters battling waves of foes, giving players a taste of the intense action awaiting them.
Beginning in the Cascade region of the game’s map, Horde Assault starts players off with a simple sidearm. But as they advance, they’ll unlock the Drifter bike, allowing them to explore and discover Supply Boxes that offer random new weapons. This mode also includes Side Jobs for gathering resources and extra XP. With a 35-level reward path, players can unlock Injectors, cosmetic patches, and new playable characters like O’Brian, Lisa, and Skizzo. Interestingly, one of the teased rewards involves a “highly requested item” related to the player’s bike, adding an extra layer of anticipation.
With just a little more than a month left before Days Gone Remastered hits the PS5, the buzz among fans is palpable. Though the remaster is exclusive to PlayStation, those on PC aren’t left out, as the Broken Road DLC will bring these exciting new modes and content to the PC port of Days Gone on the same launch day.
