The innovative indie XR studio, The Binary Mill, recently revealed that their thrilling space adventure, Into Black, will soon be breaking out of Quest exclusivity and launching on PSVR 2. This game, reminiscent of the action-packed Deep Rock Galactic, is a mining escapade set in a captivating universe.
Originally hitting the Quest platform in October, this game offers both solo and four-player co-op modes where your mission is to scavenge resources, enhance your tools, and keep your spacecraft in good working order. Throughout its expansive 20-plus levels, which are set in a variety of unique biomes, you’ll face off against numerous adversaries as you collect enough pieces to escape from a threatening alien terrain.
Furthermore, the PSVR 2 version is unveiling with the brand-new ‘Singularity’ mode. This intense PvPvE experience allows you to compete against up to 11 other players online, challenging you to forge alliances, gather loot, and navigate an ever-tightening maze. But beware—letting greed take over might mean you won’t make it out at all, as the studio intriguingly puts it.
What’s more, Into Black is receiving significant upgrades for its PSVR 2 debut. Players can look forward to remastered environments, improved lighting effects that include dynamic shadows and HDR, and eye-tracked foveated rendering. The enhanced haptics courtesy of the PS Sense’s adaptive triggers and the PSVR 2’s headset rumble add another layer of immersion.
While there’s no confirmation about cross-play with Quest at this time—since the studio has provided an update confirming this won’t be a launch feature—we’re eagerly waiting for more updates. The game promises to deliver a visually stunning experience, although a comprehensive trailer showcasing the full range of PSVR 2 enhancements is still on the horizon. In the meantime, The Binary Mill has treated fans to some teaser images and gifs, hinting at what’s in store.
Although an exact release date hasn’t been pinned down yet, The Binary Mill assures us that it’s coming “soon.” Enthusiasts can already add it to their wishlists on the PlayStation Store for PSVR 2, keeping an eye out for what could be one of the most exciting VR game launches in the near future.
