Treyarch has finally pulled back the curtain on their latest Zombie map for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, named "Shattered Veil," and fans can dive into it a bit sooner than anticipated.
Initially slated for an April 3 release, the Season 3 content for Black Ops 6’s multiplayer and Zombies mode will now be available on April 2. Though, if you’re itching for Verdansk’s return in Call of Duty: Warzone, you’ll have to hold off until April 3.
The new map takes the Dark Aether storyline up a notch, continuing the gripping saga of Black Ops 6’s Zombies mode. Having secured the Sentinel Artifact, players find themselves at an eerie, old mansion nestled in the secluded forests of West Virginia, not far from Liberty Falls.
This creepy mansion is speculated to be the same one that was featured in the original Liberty Falls cinematic. Adventurous players can expect some fresh surprises, like the new microwave traps to zap zombies and a Dark Aether Field Generator that uses energy to obliterate undead foes. Just a word of caution – watch your step around your own traps.
Beyond the intriguing mansion adorned with a T-Rex skeleton, Season 3 promises even more surprises for Zombies fans. Mysterious new foes like the Elder Disciple ghost around the estate, not only toughening up the nearby zombies but also summoning more of them. These specters pose a formidable challenge, potentially transforming standard zombies into nightmarish Doppelghasts or even more terrifying adversaries.
Adding to the chaos, there are also the toxic zombies to contend with. These nasty creatures create havoc by emerging from a swirling, sickly fog, leaving a trail of acid as their explosive demise coats the mansion grounds.
But, players aren’t left completely in the lurch. A blast from the past, the Double Tap perk-a-cola makes a comeback, offering its rapid-fire wonders to intrepid adventurers on Shattered Veil and other Black Ops 6 Zombies maps, albeit only through the Der Wunderfizz machine.
In terms of perks, Double Tap has several augmentations up for grabs:
Major Augments:
- Double Jeopardy: Low-health zombies might just drop dead instantly when shot.
- Double Impact: Quick double hits on the same target increase damage.
- Double Standard: Non-critical shots cause double damage to normal bullet weapons.
Minor Augments:
- Double Time: Boosts fire rate bonus.
- Double or Nothing: Your weapon might deal double damage or end up doing zilch.
- Double Play: Quick succession kills of two enemies may return two rounds to your magazine, but only applies to normal bullet weapons.
Ready your arsenal! Two new wonder weapons are on the card, along with their tantalizing variations. The Ray Gun Mark II offers a fresh spin on the classic, boasting three-round bursts with unique versions that mimic SMG patterns, spark enemies, wield bludgeoning attachments, or create shotgun-like effects that temporarily shield you. A marksman-like pattern is also on the table, with the potential to unleash area-of-effect damage.
Meanwhile, the Wunderwaffe DG-2 delivers electrifying chain-lightning blasts, and it might just stun that pesky zombie horde for extra damage opportunities.
If that wasn’t enough, three fresh Gobblegums will be making an appearance, adding a dash of extra strategy across all maps:
- Tactical Diffusion (Rare): Cancels the next Nuke Power-Up explosion you activate, gifting everyone with 2,000 Essence.
- Support Group (Legendary): Chomp down this GobbleGum to gain access to the ARC-XD, Mangler Cannon, Sentry Gun, and Mutant Injection Support items.
- Die Pitched (Whimsical): High-pitched zombie voices take over for three minutes, creating an amusingly eerie atmosphere.
And don’t overlook the return of the formidable Death Machine scorestreak, craftable for a cost of 1750 salvage in Zombies mode.
As you further immerse yourself in the Dark Aether storyline, keep an eye out for the MidSeason refresh, which introduces the Directed Mode for Shattered Veil. This midseason update will also unveil a temporary Team Cranked mode for Zombies and a new Frost Blast field upgrade.
