Last Thursday, the floodgates opened for orders of the Bigscreen Beyond 2, and the response was nothing short of spectacular. This new VR headset from Bigscreen wasn’t just a hit; it surpassed the sales of its predecessor in just 24 hours—a milestone that had originally taken a hefty six months for Beyond 1 to achieve.
As Bigscreen rolled out this latest model, it became clear that Beyond 2 was making waves right from the start. Within the first half an hour, it had sold more units than Beyond 1 did on its entire first day. An hour in, sales had doubled what the previous model achieved during its own initial launch. By the time 10 hours had passed, Beyond 2 had already outsold the first four months of Beyond 1’s sales figures.
Darshan Shankar, the founder and CEO of Bigscreen, took to X on Friday to share perhaps the most striking statistic. He revealed, “In the first 24 hours, Beyond 2 has sold 10 TIMES as many units as Beyond 1 sold on its launch day two years ago. That’s remarkable.” He went on to emphasize that this success wasn’t driven by an advertising blitz. “We didn’t pay influencers to hype our product. We didn’t hire an agency for fancy video promotions. Zero ad spend.”
That said, the company did strategically distribute around ten early units of Beyond 2 to select reviewers, including well-known names like Tested, Thrillseeker, MRTV, and VR Flight Sim Guy.
If you haven’t caught up with the buzz, here’s what you need to know about Beyond 2. It’s available in two versions: the standard Beyond 2 and the eye-tracking model, Beyond 2e, priced at $1,019 and $1,219 respectively. While it retains the original’s impressive dual 1-inch 2,560 × 2,560 micro-OLED displays, it boasts significant enhancements. The headset features a larger, 116-degree diagonal field-of-view thanks to a new pancake lens design, as opposed to the 102-degree FOV of the original. Plus, it comes with an adjustable IPD mechanism and a feather-light 107g weight.
Although initial shipments of Beyond 2 and Beyond 2e were slated for April and May, respectively, new orders placed now can expect shipments around June.
