Virtuix has made an exciting announcement: introducing a captivating tourism app for its Omni One VR treadmill system. This new app promises to let users stroll through some of the most renowned spots on the planet.
Launching on March 6th, TREKS combines immersive video with real physical walking, offering users the chance to explore locations like the awe-inspiring Grand Canyon, the bustling New York Central Park, or the historic Fort Masmak in Riyadh. This creation comes straight out of Virtuix Studios, the company’s in-house development team, and will be exclusively available on the Omni One Game Store for a price of $30.
Upon release, TREKS will let users journey through four initial destinations:
- Grand Canyon: Feel the wonder as you traverse its trails, taking in the breathtaking vistas.
- Niagara Falls: Witness the majestic power from both the American and Canadian perspectives.
- New York City: Visit iconic sites such as the Statue of Liberty, Times Square, Central Park, and the Brooklyn Bridge.
- Saudi Arabia: Dive into the rich history and stunning architecture of Fort Masmak and the Al Rajhi Mosque.
Virtuix Studios has hinted at plans to roll out more locations in the near future as downloadable content (DLC), introducing even more landmarks, historical sites, and natural marvels. What’s more, Virtuix notes that taking a one-hour trek in the app could burn around 500 calories.
“With TREKS, you’re not just a spectator in these destinations—you’re part of them,” explained Jan Goetgeluk, CEO of Virtuix. “It’s a fantastic way to remain active while visiting some of the globe’s most iconic sites. It’s truly the perfect blend of fitness and adventure.”
The Omni One package, priced at $3,495, features the VR treadmill along with a customized Pico 4 Enterprise headset. This headset works seamlessly with native apps thanks to its internal chipset and can also connect—either wired or wirelessly—to a VR-ready PC.
In a development from last month, Virtuix announced that Omni One now supports over 55 gaming titles. Recent additions include Arizona Sunshine Remake, Arizona Sunshine 2, and Into The Radius. Moreover, the versatile Omni One system integrates smoothly with SteamVR games, thanks to the Omni Connect PC Driver. This feature allows users to create custom bindings and tweak game settings, enhancing games that aren’t specifically built for immersive walking.
