As we see the PlayStation Vita gradually fade into nostalgia, some of its noteworthy games are making a comeback on today’s platforms. Among these is the 2012 action RPG, Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Battle Destiny, which is set to receive a remastered edition soon. Though fans in the West will be experiencing this game for the first time, curiously, it won’t be making its way to any PlayStation systems, despite its original status as a Vita exclusive.
Can you believe that? The remastered version, aptly named Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Battle Destiny Remastered, is slated to launch on May 22 and will be available for Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam. In true remaster fashion, it will bring the classic game up to speed with today’s gaming standards, offering improved visuals, a revamped user interface, some updated gameplay mechanics, and, for the first time, an English localization.
What’s more, this remake includes several enhancements to smooth out the experience. Think better tuning, a streamlined mission selection, and a new lock-on mode. If you’re as curious as I am, you might want to catch the trailer that gives a peek into this upgraded throwback.
In the game, players take on the role of soldiers navigating tumultuous times, choosing sides among three factions: the Earth Alliance, Z.A.F.T, or Archangel. They’ll embark on story missions inspired by legendary moments from Mobile Suit Gundam SEED and Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny, as well as side stories like Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Astray and Mobile Suit Gundam SEED C.E. 73: STARGAZER. And with over a whopping 100 mobile suits to select from, players can customize their mechs to engage in electrifying, action-filled Gundam battles.
For those PlayStation loyalists who double as Switch or PC gamers, you’ll be pleased to know that preorders for the PC version are currently open, with Switch preorders coming soon.
