As you journey through the game, the different cultures you encounter truly bring the world to life. Take the Aedyrans, for instance. They’re a proud nation grounded in the principles of rightful rule, leadership, and order, now trying to find their place in the untamed frontier of Eora. Imagine how they might try to fit in—perhaps by tweaking their clothing style or adjusting their lifestyle choices. This “Wild West” draws all kinds of people, and their strict adherence to order might clash with the flexibility needed to thrive in the Living Lands.
“If you’re someone who primarily worships Woedica, the goddess, you’ll hold values like law, order, justice, and rightful rulership in high regard,” notes Patel. “On the other hand, if Abydon, the Smith, is the deity you venerate, it means you place a greater emphasis on industry, hard work, and dedication. This dynamic allows us to infuse factions and groups with distinct ideals, making it easier for players to identify what they’re all about.”
This thematic richness extends to the game’s architecture and costume design, which feel seamlessly interwoven. Lead Environment Artist Dennis Presnell explains, “This world isn’t just a static backdrop; it feels alive and has been throughout development. The process is incredibly iterative, with team members continually contributing new assets, creative ideas, and storytelling elements. Each addition builds upon the last, creating a world brimming with variation—a vast, cohesive, and authentic experience.”
