Elden Ring’s seamless co-op mod by Yui has taken the community by storm, and now this talented modder has turned their attention to Dark Souls 3.
FromSoftware’s approach to multiplayer has always been a bit of a mixed bag. While you might enjoy the chaos of banding together with a friend to outmaneuver enemies, the process itself can sometimes be cumbersome. This is where Yui, known for their innovative Elden Ring mod that allowed for smooth co-op play, steps in. They’ve also tackled the same multiplayer challenge with Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon, and are now bringing that same seamless experience to Dark Souls 3.
Yui recently showcased a video of the mod in action. It features a gameplay session with a friend, journeying through Lothric Castle. So if you’re someone who keeps promising to play but hasn’t yet, you might want to skip the video to avoid spoilers. The description clarifies that all multiplayer boundaries are removed with this mod, allowing connections to persist even after death. You can play with friends from the tutorial all the way to the end, enjoying synchronized progress without needing to resummon each other. Invasions? They’re optional and active by default. Plus, you have control over adjusting the difficulty of enemy encounters to your liking. This mod appears to offer everything you could want for a seamless co-op experience.
There’s no word yet on when this mod will be available, so patience is the name of the game for eager players. But for now, you can look forward to the new Elden Ring expansion, Nightreign, expected later this year. It promises built-in seamless co-op, which should keep fans entertained, especially with its focus on boss-centric roguelite experiences.
