In February, Bungie is set to roll out a series of comprehensive updates to exotic weapons in Destiny 2’s Episode Heresy. These changes are exciting for players eager to refresh their gameplay with uniquely enhanced tools from their arsenal.
One of the key updates revolves around the D.A.R.C.I. sniper rifle, which is being fitted with a new catalyst perk dubbed Network Targeting. This enhancement is designed to support allies wielding legendary sniper rifles, making it a valuable asset for team dynamics. Meanwhile, other exotics like Telesto, Thunderlord, and Cloudstrike are also in line for significant buffs, transforming their utility and power in notable ways.
Bungie’s recent announcement provides a detailed look at the exotic weapon changes ahead of Episode Heresy’s launch. As the current Episode Revenant wraps up, players are eagerly anticipating the final episodic adventure before Codename Frontiers makes its debut this summer. In a recent update, Bungie shared their focus for Episode Heresy: revitalizing a roster of exotics that have seen less use recently. The once-mighty D.A.R.C.I., previously a powerhouse in terms of damage, has gradually been overshadowed by other exotic options.
Rather than a simple buff, Bungie’s approach with D.A.R.C.I. is more strategic. They’re transforming it into an integral fireteam asset, mirroring the functionality of the Gjallarhorn rocket launcher in Destiny 2. The new Network Targeting perk not only improves weapon performance and precision for the player but also benefits fellow team members using non-exotic sniper rifles. It does so when the Personal Assistant feature is engaged. Plus, there’s an added incentive for D.A.R.C.I. users, who receive a 15% damage boost after stacking assistance five times for a teammate.
Aside from D.A.R.C.I., Bungie is set on addressing other underutilized exotics, like the storied Telesto fusion rifle. Known for its quirks, including a history of in-game bugs, Telesto embraces its unique reputation with a fresh set of upgrades. These tweaks activate various perks, such as triggering on any Void final blow, restocking ammo from reserves, and enabling a special reload that unleashes a barrage of Telesto projectiles on the next direct hit.
Other exotics receiving attention include the Thunderlord and Cloudstrike, with the latter taking part in the ongoing Destiny 2 Past is Prologue event and acquiring the Bolt Charge bonus. Redesigns for the Lord of Wolves, significant buffs for Fourth Horseman and Legend of Acrius, and a rethink of recent nerfs to Quicksilver Storm are also part of Bungie’s plans. Additionally, heavy-hitting options like the Wardcliff Coil, Queensbreaker, and The Colony are set to improve, restoring viability to several lesser-used weapons.
These updates are poised to recalibrate the exotic landscape in Destiny 2, promising a refreshing experience as Episode Heresy kicks off. The changes aim to reintroduce a variety of playstyles and strategic depth, ensuring players have more engaging and diverse combat options as they dive into the latest adventures Bungie has crafted.
