The source of these images is Reddit user Nacam1, who shared photos allegedly from a manufacturer of Switch accessories. These shots show the console encased in a silicone cover. It’s not the first hint we’ve had, as an earlier trailer, which has since been deleted, might have teased the Switch 2 back in December. However, that footage was too blurry, revealing only an extra button on the Joy-Con. The new images, being much clearer, might validate that image as they also show a new button on the right Joy-Con.
Moving beyond just a new Joy-Con button, the pictures might support other earlier rumors. Nintendo patents that leaked recently suggested enhanced cable management, and these images show the console with two USB-C ports, which aligns with that idea. Additionally, there’s a U-shaped kickstand, similar to the more robust version seen on the OLED Switch, along with larger air vents that suggest improved performance or more efficient cooling for a possibly more powerful processor.
Interestingly, the Joy-Cons in these photos lack any rails to attach to the console, which could lend credence to theories about magnetic Joy-Cons, making the controllers easier to snap on and off. What the dock looks like or what technical enhancements the console will have remains unknown.
