The prominent Japanese publisher, Bandai Namco, has decided to shut down its online branch, aptly named Bandai Namco Online.
In their announcement, the company revealed that this division’s responsibilities will be absorbed into the broader Bandai Namco framework. However, they have not specified how this restructuring might impact the current employees.
Bandai Namco Online was established back in 2009 with a clear mission: to develop and manage online games. This group brought to life several notable titles, including Dragon Ball Z: X KeeperZ, Gundam Evolution, and Blue Protocol.
The decision to dissolve this division stems from what the company describes as “recent changes in the environment surrounding the game business” and a desire to bolster the overall management of its digital operations.
This announcement follows on the heels of an earlier statement from Bandai Namco this year; they intend to close down Blue Protocol—a collaborative MMO developed with Amazon—come January 18th, 2025.
