Stalker 2 has definitely hit a few road bumps with bugs, but GSC Game World promises relief is on the horizon with a patch set to address some of these pesky issues.
Upon its release earlier this week, Stalker 2 found itself in a bit of a tangled mess. Our own Connor, however, managed to look past these flaws in his review. While the game provoked mixed reactions in various corners, its performance on Steam has been more than commendable. Modders jumped right in, tackling the notorious stuttering problem. But players can breathe a sigh of relief, as an official fix is in the works. Over on the game’s Steam page, GSC Game World announced that the first post-launch patch will drop sometime next week.
“We’re still wrapping our heads around the fact that the game is out there,” the team shared. “We’ve been keeping a close eye on all the feedback from the community. A massive thank you to over a million players exploring the Zone—it means the world to us. You’ve got missions to accomplish in the game, and so do we.” While the post doesn’t delve into each and every bug, it does provide a decent breakdown of what the patch aims to tackle.
Expect improvements with crash fixes targeting memory allocation hiccups. To ensure smooth advancement through the main storyline, tweaks will be made to resolve issues like NPCs awkwardly stuck in objects or incorrect quest markers popping up. There are also gameplay and balance adjustments coming up. These include alterations to NPC behavior, weapon pricing, and some cutscene and visual tweaks. There are a couple more details, but you can check those out on your own.
In a crucial note, GSC shared plans for future patches as well. One issue they’re eyeing is the presence of dead zones in analogue sticks, impacting player controls. Additionally, the game’s A-Life system—a point of contention among many players—is on their radar. Unfortunately, there’s no specific timeline for when these will be sorted, so a bit of patience will be necessary.
