For quite some time now, Razer has been my top choice for gaming headsets. I’ve spent countless hours with the Razer Kraken Ultimate, the Razer Kraken V3 series, and the Razer Kaira Pro, and fell in love with them during my PC gaming adventures. However, things took a turn this October when Alienware, Dell’s gaming-centric division, introduced a headset that compelled me to shelve my beloved Razers: the Alienware Pro Wireless Gaming Headset.
Marketed as a high-end option for gamers craving exceptional sound, mic clarity, comfort, and wireless prowess, this headset made its entrance with a hefty price tag of $229.99. Fortunately, with Black Friday around the corner, it’s offered at a discounted price of $199.99 at Dell—a neat 13% reduction from its original cost.

Why I recommend the Alienware Pro Wireless Gaming Headset
Alienware’s latest headset completes the trio with the Alienware Pro Wireless Gaming Mouse and Keyboard, launched earlier this year, crafting a full 2024 accessory suite. In my recent review, I called this headset "the best wireless gaming headset I’ve used in years," surpassing my personal favorites like the Razer Kraken V3 Pro HyperSense and the Razer Kaira Pro.
The headset’s microphone impressed me the most. One of my few criticisms of Razer headsets is their "just okay" mic quality, but the Alienware Pro’s unidirectional mic is undeniably superior. It captures my voice clearly every time, a crucial feature for me as I spend most evenings gaming with friends over Discord. Although the AI noise cancellation can be a tad aggressive, disabling it doesn’t leave you exposed to background noise—it does an excellent job of passively blocking it out.
The audio performance is outstanding too, boasting 50mm graphene-coated drivers that produce a rich and well-balanced sound with an extensive frequency range from 20-40KHz. Trebles, mids, and bass come through wonderfully, and those who enjoy a louder experience will be pleased with its impressive maximum volume capabilities. Its sound kicks harder than recent Razer models, even without their HyperSense or Sensa HD Haptics.
The fit of the Alienware Pro is somewhat tighter than the spacious feel I’ve been used to with Razer, but it’s also lighter on the head—a compromise I’m okay with. Featuring an adjustable headband and flexible construction, it suits a variety of head sizes, while the soft memory foam leatherette earcups ensure comfort during long gaming sessions. Although I prefer the roomier feel of Razer’s cushy design, Alienware Pro’s comfort holds up almost equally.
In terms of design, Alienware has gone for a clean, simple look with this headset, steering clear of flashy RGBs or bright coloring. It comes in “Lunar Light” white or “Dark Side of the Moon” black, exhibiting a sleek, rounded finish. The well-built headset includes several practical onboard controls such as a volume wheel, mic mute button, ANC toggle, power switch, and a mode switch for 2.4GHz wireless or Bluetooth. Both wireless modes have performed perfectly so far, and I’ve nearly matched the advertised battery life of 70-75 hours with ANC turned off between charges. There’s also the option for wired use if needed.
There are a couple of drawbacks: it’s not compatible with Xbox consoles, and the ANC performance is lackluster. However, these issues don’t bother me much since Xbox isn’t a big part of my gaming routine, and I’m not a fan of ANC in general. For those less concerned about these downsides, this headset could be a perfect fit, and with the $30 discount at Dell, it’s an appealing purchase. I haven’t looked back to my Razer headsets since trying this one, and I doubt I ever will.

Black Friday takes place every year on the Friday following American Thanksgiving in November. This year, it kicks off on November 29, 2024. But remember, retailers often start their Black Friday sales earlier to stand out from the competition.
