In the latest update for October 2024, Bungie has introduced a new way to highlight featured activities in Destiny 2. Now, both a featured raid and a featured dungeon are displayed with an icon on the map each week. However, players still don’t get a heads-up on what’s coming in future weeks straight from the game itself.
In this guide, we’re diving into the significance of these rotating raids and dungeons, along with laying out a calendar so you know which endgame activity takes the spotlight each week. Keep in mind, the lineup changes every Tuesday with Destiny 2’s weekly reset.
Let’s talk about this week’s spotlight on raids. Each week brings two featured raids, rotated in a staggered order. The latest raid, Salvation’s Edge, isn’t part of this rotation until a new raid drops. This rotation schedule can change, so always make sure to confirm the currently featured raid by looking out for the gold circle indicating powerful rewards.
Now, shifting our focus to dungeons, two make the spotlight each week, following a regular cycle. Vesper’s Host, the newest dungeon, won’t take center stage in the rotation until a new one is released. As with raids, changes can happen, so it’s wise to double-check which dungeon is highlighted by noting the gold circle that appears for powerful rewards.
So, what does it mean when a raid or dungeon gets the spotlight? In Destiny 2, the activities that cycle weekly are numerous, but none are quite as impactful as the raids and dungeons. For newcomers, raids gather six players together for what many consider the toughest challenges the game offers. Meanwhile, dungeons are their smaller siblings, requiring just three Guardians—and with some practice, maybe even a brave solo player.
When you tackle a featured raid or dungeon, completing it rewards you with a Pinnacle Power piece of loot and the opportunity to replay encounters multiple times for a shot at that elusive loot. For instance, when the Last Wish raid is on feature, you’re free to tackle its encounters again and again in hopes of nabbing that weapon pattern you’ve been hunting. Typically, non-featured raids restrict you to a single loot drop per week.
Every Tuesday marks the switch-over for these featured raids and dungeons, ushering in a new selection. It’s also worth noting that the most recent raid and dungeon in the game aren’t eligible for featuring but do offer pinnacle gear weekly.
